Instrumentation & Technology Development

The use of modern instrumentation and technology is crucial to the work of the Manila Observatory. The Instrumentation & Technology Development program aims to develop and integrate instruments and technologies, giving priority to local expertise and resources, for use in scientific investigation, environmental monitoring and rehabilitation. Most of the instruments being built are for the atmospheric and climate monitoring, such as automated meteorological systems, as we as aerosol and gaseous pollutant detectors. Technologies are being developed for alternative energy and transport systems, real-time webcasting of air quality and weather and climate information, seismic activity, and scientific visualization.
