Klima Center launches “Strengthening Women’s Civil Society and Women Environmental Human Rights Defenders’ Political Participation and Influence for a Just, Green, Future Philippines” with UNDP Philippines

On 5 November 2025, the Klima Center of the Manila Observatory in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP || UNDP Philippines, officially launched the project, “Strengthening Women’s Civil Society and Women Environmental Human Rights Defenders’ Political Participation and Influence for a Just, Green, Future Philippines.” This project intends to engage with and empower women civil society organizations (CSOs), as well as utilize UNDP’s eMonitor+ platform to collect and analyze harmful social media content targeting women environmental human rights defenders (WEHRDs).

This was attended by women environmental human rights defenders (WEHRDs) from CSO partners as well as government agency partners. The launch consisted of an inception workshop and a consultation meeting.

At the inception, UNDP presented an overview of the project, partners introduced their organizations, and partners gave their comments on the tentative project outputs. Meanwhile, the consultation meeting headed by Klima of the Manila Observatory focused on a rapid assessment indicating capacities and needs of each partner organization, and a review of the draft policy brief for WEHRD in the Philippines.
