New Year 2008 PM 2.5 Concentrations

Samplers were set up to run for 24 hours, from noon of December 31 to noon of the New Year, in Manila Observatory, Barangka, Valle Verde, Marikina and Antipolo for New Year 2008. Greatest PM2.5 values were recorded this year in Marikina (499 ug/m3), while the lowest PM2.5 values were recorded in MO (124 ug/m3) and Barangka (147 ug/m3). Although the measured PM2.5 values in MO, Barangka and Valle Verde were more than half the previous year’s levels (24%, 27%, and 43% of last year’s levels) they were still in exceedance of the 24-hour USEPA guideline value for PM2.5: which is 65 ug/m3.
